Fifty Shades of Grey Puts Spice Back Into Couples Bedrooms

Love it or hate it, but there is no denying that Fifty Shades of Grey has made a life changing impact on popular culture. The bedroom antics of its protagonists Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey has put the spice back into the sex lives of couples all around the world. What has been the secret of the success behind E.L. James's bestselling erotic trilogy? Well, one ancient old rule certainly helps - sex sells. While mainstream pornography usually caters specifically to men, erotic novels have often addressed women's needs more, meaning that while women will probably not watch porn, they will read erotica. Despite the books' steamy content, there is a lot of build up between Anastasia and Christian for at least 80 pages before the clothes get ripped off. The sexual tension is what gets everyone wanting more, and Ana's virginity just adds to it all.

What Fifty Shades of Grey has done is brought erotica into the mainstream and it's now OK for women to read about sex and be open about their desires and their sexuality. It's this openness that' making more and more couples get a little more experimental in the bedroom. More and more couples are willing to experiment with bondage, sadomasochism and sex toys since Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey entered the red room of pain. Many couples have credited the Fifty Shades of Grey books for bringing the passion back into their marriages that has died since kids and familiarity. There has even been an alleged baby boom thanks to the books' inspiration to get couples back into the bedroom.

One nice thing about erotic literature, when compared to pornography, is that the action happens entirely in the readers' minds. Anastasia may go through some heavy-duty flogging, which in a porn movie would probably be uncomfortable to watch. But since all the action happens on the page, we can enjoy this kind of explicit scenes knowing that no-one is getting hurt or exploited to create titillation. We get to see the tale from Anastasia's point of view - she's a person with her own thoughts and feelings and not once is reduced to a sexual object. Fifty Shades of Grey offers a clean alternative of erotic stimulation without the need to dehumanize anyone in the way that mainstream pornography does. So regardless of the literary merit of the books, Anastasia and Christian are helping women to discover their own sexuality and equips them with inspiration to do so.

Fifty Shades of Steele - Is Another Trilogy in The Works?

The Fifty Shades of Grey books have left fans wanting more. While a trilogy may not be enough for most of us, there is the movie to look forward to, but it seems like it may be quite some time before we get to see our favorite protagonists Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey portrayed on the big screen. But for those of us, who are getting withdrawal symptoms from a lack of Anastasia and Christian, there is some potential good news - E.L. James is thinking about writing another trilogy, only this time, from the point of view of Christian Grey. While this could just be a rumor, one frenzied fan asked the writer if there was any truth in this, "Never say never," said the London-born author. A trilogy of Fifty Shades told from the other side could reveal insight into Christian Grey's mysterious character. Some may think having another three books telling the same story would be tedious - since we already know what's going to happen, but Christian still remains a man of mystery to most fans, and be honest - we're all dying to know what's going on inside his head!

A set of teaser chapters were included at the end of Fifty Shades Freed where we learn about some of the key points between Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey from the male perspective. We get to know that Christian's meet up of Ana in the hardware store was no coincidence, and also that our bossy CEO did a thorough background check on Ms. Steele - from her relationship status to her bank account! Now we know that Anastasia was right in her jokes that Christian Grey has some stalker tendencies. Seeing the romance unfold from the other side would definitely be an interesting character development - where we'd learn why Christian Grey is so drawn to Ana, why he can only function in a BDSM relationship and more so, we'd learn about his damaged childhood and relationship with Mrs. Robinson and other subs. Another book would keep fans' hunger at bay until the release of the movie that is under pre-production with Universal Pictures and Focus Features. Right now Fifty Shades fans find all they can talk about and learn about Christian Grey is who'll play him in the movie. At least this way E.L. James can satiate the need for more Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele for the moment.

Screenwriters For The Movie Fifty Shades of Grey

Fifty Shades of Grey is the hottest thing around - and I'm not just talking about its steamy subject matter! The book has rocketed to the number one position in the charts and has been steadily increasing in sales week after week with no intention of submitting. Now that Universal Pictures and Focus Features have acquired the rights to the bestselling erotic trilogy by E.L. James, everyone in Hollywood wants in on the action. While the whole Internet is going crazy talking about the casting for the movie Fifty Shades of Grey, producers of the movie, Mike De Luca and Dana Brunetti of The Social Network fame, are more interested in finding a screenwriter for the moment. At present, the shortlist of writers who are being considered to pen the script for the movie adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey seem a little unconventional, with Karen Croner, Dan Fogelman, Veena Sud and Kelly Marcel. Many of these screenwriters have worked on the big screen before, but on nothing like Fifty Shades of Grey. Fogelman probably carries the most experience, having credits to his name like Cars 2 and Bolt, but will his family friendly experience be suitable for the raunchy S&M romance that is Fifty Shades of Grey? Sud may be a little more suitable, after having worked with darker stories like the US adaptation of the Danish crime series The Crime as well as future work to adapt the remake of Hitchcock's Suspicion.

Croner is already working with Universal Pictures and Focus Features on the adaption of Jean Hanff Korelitz's novel Admission, and she also wrote the script for the movie adaptation of One True Thing. British writer and actress Kelly Marcel is probably best known for Fox's Terra Nova and for having written the script for Saving Mr. Banks - a movie starring Emma Thompson and Tom Hanks that will begin production next month. American Psycho writer Bret Easton Ellis, who desperately wanted the job, has been dropped off the short list. Easton Ellis has been very public about his disappointment on his Twitter account. Whoever will get the job will have a bit project on their hands. With so many avid fans of the book, the screenwriter will have a lot of pressure to come up with an adaptation that will work on the big screen, while keeping the fans content. The Movie Fifty Shades OF Grey is planned to be released in late 2013.

Who Will Be Cast As Christian Grey in the Movie Fifty Shades Of Grey?

The bestselling erotic trilogy Fifty Shades of Grey is the hottest book around, and not just only for its sale figures. Universal Pictures and Focus Features have acquired the rights to the Fifty Shades series and right now everyone is talking about the casting. While the studios are looking for a director and a screenwriter, fans of the books are busying themselves with their picks as to who should play the dominant, multi-billionaire CEO with a sordid secret. Many actors are dying to get the role, so what exactly do we need for the right Christian Grey?

The book is rather specific about his character's description. We know his is stunningly handsome, so we need an actor who can match the expectations in our heads. He needs to look not only super hot in a suit but also naked (hopefully the movie will treat us to a little eye-candy there). The character is described as being tall, athletic and with a messy mop of auburn hair and striking grey eyes. The actor who'll portray him needs to manage the charm of Mr. Grey, but also the capture the kinky and debauched side of the character. Last but not least, he must have the confidence and the cool to pull off all those dominant S&M scenes in the red room of pain.

Actors all over Hollywood are tripping over each other to get the part, but who can pull off the kinky CEO? The Internet is a hub of discussion and fans are all pitching their favourite actors for the part. Ian Somerhalder from the Vampire Diaries is high on the list, and he has definitely got the striking grey eyes to go with the part. Ryan Gosling from the Notebook may not have the intense stare, but he's a good actor who'd definitely capture the character.

Other hunks on the list includes Swedish heartthrob Alexander Skarsgard from HBO's True Blood, whose character in the series already has his very own S&M dungeon. Gossip Girl's Chuck Bass has earned his reputation as a rich bad boy, but would he match the fans' mental image of Christian Grey? We can only have fun speculating, but whoever gets the part is going to have a lot to live up to. Christian Grey is the epitome of the perfect man so any actor who'll be playing him is going to have a lot of pressure and work to do to keep the fans happy.

Fifty Shades E.L. James Has Movie Producers in Cuffs

The writer of the bestselling erotica trilogy E.L. James may be a shy and reclusive housewife, but when it comes to adapting her book onto screen she's the one wielding the riding crop. The Fifty Shades of Grey books have hit the world like a hurricane, with eight consecutive weeks of increased sales the erotic series has outsold the Harry Potter and Twilight series in a record amount of time - so a movie version of the book has "hit" written all over it before it's even been cast. Universal Pictures and Focus Features have acquired the rights for Fifty Shades of Grey the movie, but it has come with a string of demands that would have made Christian Grey proud. The author's demands have been so specific and numerous that other studios have declined working with the trilogy.

Not unlike her hero, the complex Mr. Grey, E.L. James has drawn up a complex and elaborate contract stating the level of her involvement in the adaptations. These terms include her approval of the director, screenwriter and screenplay, location, trailers, cast and many more. She is also specific in the way the love story is to be handled. E.J. James wants a complex exploration of Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey's relationship through a sexual-political viewpoint that is aimed at a demographic of women aged 25-65. So this laundry list of requests and demands will not just affect who'll direct and be cast in the production, but it'll also affect the individual scenes. Another concern about E.L. James's dominatrix involvement is the rating of the film.

The author wants to keep it as authentic as possible, but there is a fine line to be tread, since Fifty Shades could just become a high-budget porn movie. An R-rating would allow the source material to be faithfully adapted, but a PG-13 rating would bring in more ticket sales, although this would require heavy dumbing down of the sex scenes - quite problematic when you're adapting an erotic novel. So it'll be up to E.L. James to assure the movie's success. One thing about E.L. James's involvement is that Fifty Shades of Grey will be loyal to the novels. The author herself is guaranteeing that her book will meet her vision. Right now we just have to sit and wait and see what will happen. Who'll be cast and who'll direct it? These are answer's we'll just have to wait for patiently.

Katie Cassidy Hits the Shortlist for Anastasia Steele in The Movie Fifty Shades of Grey

It's the movie everyone wants to be in - Fifty Shades of Grey is the book that everyone is talking about and is now being made by Universal Pictures and Focus Features into a feature film. The erotic trilogy by E.L. James tells us of an unconventional love story between dominant, handsome, billionaire Christian Grey who has some rather kinky and perverse tastes in the bedroom, whereas his object of desire, Anastasia Steele is an innocent, 21-year-old virgin who has a love of British classics and likes to drink tea. This unsuspecting pair end up in a violently passionate relationship full of elating highs, crashing lows and earth-shattering sex. Anastasia Steele is described as being a thin, pale girl with long dark hair and blue eyes that are too big for her face. Almost every actress in Hollywood wants the part, from the big, worldly stars like Angelina Jolie and Scarlett Johansson, to lesser-known actresses like Lily Collins and Alexis Bledel. However, it seems one actress has taken the lead in the candidacy for Anastasia Steele in the movie version of Fifty Shades of Grey - Katie Cassidy.

The 25-year-old actress has recently appeared in Gossip Girl and Melrose Place will have to compete with actresses such as Emma Stone, Emma Watson and Pretty Little Liars star Lucy Hale for the role of submissive Anastasia Steele. Emma Watson has revealed to the media that she hasn't been approached for the role nor has she read the script, despite the countless rumors on the Internet about her involvement in the movie, but that doesn't mean the Harry Potter starlet is out of the running. Actors for the role of Greek god and sadistic CEO Christian Grey include fan favorites Ryan Gosling of The Notebook fame, Ian Somerhalder from the Vampire Diaries, and Swedish True Blood Hunk Alexander Skarsgard. Channing Tatum's name was also linked to the part, but he mentioned in an interview that he'd only agree to do the part if his wife Jenna Dewan were cast opposite him as Anastasia."I'd only be allowed if my wife was Ana," says the Magic Mike star, "She's read the books so I don't think she'd be impressed if she couldn't be Ana." With Universal Pictures and Focus Features priority lying with finding a screenwriter and a director first, it looks like we'll have to wait until we get our Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey.

Fifty Shades Books Cause Baby Boom

The names Jacob and Sofia may be the most popular baby names in the US, but will that change in nine months time to Christian and Anastasia in light of the phenomenon that is the Fifty Shades of Grey series? The bestselling erotic trilogy has got everyone talking and all of a sudden it's become socially acceptable for us to read steamy books in public. But what are the side effects of such naughty material? Mothers and expecting mothers say Fifty Shades of Grey are to blame for their pregnancies. The steamy series featuring the bedroom actions between dominant CEO Christian Grey and the innocent and virginal college girl Anastasia Steele has inspired many women to get back in the bedroom for some Fifty Shades style of action.Women all over the States have taken a cue from our kinky protagonists to heat things up in the bedroom a bit. On first impression, citing that the Fifty Shades books are causing an increased number of pregnancies may seem absurd on first impression, but many expecting mothers are swearing by it.

One such stay-at-home-mom from Virginia is expecting her next child in February. While her military husband was away, she read the book in his absence, which had left her with many ideas she wanted to try out on him when he came home. A Chicago based mother of five also has another baby on the way - after Fifty Shades inspired steamy night in Florida with her partner. "We went out for dinner," says the nurse, "you know, a little wine, a little stone crab and a little Christian Grey." Other women thank the books for igniting their lost flames in their marriages. Ashley Nealy, who has a one-year-old son and lives in North Carolina, found she had lost her passion with her fiancé after the birth of their child. After reading the book depicting the kinky affair between Anastasia and Christian, Ms. Nealy managed to find that lost passion predating their first child. This goes beyond single anecdotes, BabyCenter.com a large online community for mothers and expecting moms cites that nearly 150 women have been posting about their Fifty Shades inspired pregnancies.

Fifty Shades of Grey is not just a book that is flying off the bestselling lists, but one that is having an effect on society. Women are more open and adventurous about sex now and reading erotica is no longer taboo. Not only that, we can expect a surge of little babies called Christian and Anastasia in the not too distant future.

Angelina Jolie Wants a Role In The Fifty Shades Movies

Hollywood femme-fatal Angelina Jolie is hardly who we think of when the discussion comes up about the casting for the role of Anastasia Steele in the Fifty Shades of Grey movies. Anastasia Steele is a shy, 21-year-old college student who also happens to be a virgin. Not exactly a part made for the 39-year-old sex goddess. Angelina Jolie's name has been floating around the Fifty Shades of Grey rumour mill, from allegations that she'll be directing the movie herself to playing a part in it. One thing we can be sure of is that Angelina definitely wants to be involved in the project. She's been quoted to say that she'd "love a part" in the movie adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey, and has been spotted reading the book on the set of her latest film Maleficent. Angelina Jolie has a lot of experience with success and already knows the movie is "bound to be a huge hit."

Casting a mature and worldly actress like Ms. Jolie in the part of Ana would certainly be controversial casting, but it's probably unlikely that Angelina would be cast as virginal Ms. Steele. One character that might suit Angelina would be the role of "Mrs. Robinson," the sexy and older lady who corrupted and seduced a very young Christian Grey. At the moment, the role of Anastasia Steele is still uncertain. Universal Pictures and Focus Features have acquired to rights to the books, and Mike De Luca and Dana Brunetti from The Social Network are on board to produce the movie, but so far considerations being made about who'll write the screenplay and direct the movie rather than on casting. However, plenty of actresses want in on the Fifty Shades franchise. Many fans too have their own idea of Anastasia Steele and the Internet is rife with discussion as to who'll play Christian Grey's other half. Actresses who are candidates for the role include Kristen Stewart of the Twilight series, Lily Collins, Alexis Bledel, Nina Dobrev, Amanda Seyfried and Emilia Clarke from A Game of Thrones. Scarlett Johansson is another actress whose name has come up in association with the movie, and while her big name can't hurt the box office sales, she might be a little too worldly in the part of the clumsy, innocent girl who is drawn into Christian Grey's red room of pain. It's also more likely an unknown or less-well known actress will get the part. Right now it's a matter of wait and see!

Why Fifty Shades of Grey Is "Good" for Women

Is Fifty Shades of Grey "good" for women? It's an interesting question. To answer it, you also have to examine not only whether the book itself is good for women, but whether the pop culture phenomenon that ensued is a positive thing. I think they have two different answers.

The books themselves are fantastic for women who want to read them. Remember, some women are put off from books that are hyper-sexual, and the Shades of Grey trilogy is over-flowing with graphic sex. Ana is a sexually-naïve virgin when she first encounters Christian, a domineering man deeply into S&M.

Christian is used to getting what he wants- and he immediately wants Ana to be one of his submissives, something Ana isn't exactly prepared to agree to. They end up coming to a compromise, and that means tons of sex scenes that sometimes border on being a little too graphic. But the fact that a series of books with sexual comment has become available for women in a socially acceptable way is surely good for women, right?

It's high time women be able to discuss sex openly and admit that they have desires that were once considered to be completely outside the norm. And the books provide a conversation starter for women who want to talk about their fantasies with their own sexual partners- also a good thing.

So what's the 'not so good' thing for about Fifty Shades of Grey when it comes to women? For starters, it has introduced the term 'Mommy Porn' which is both insulting and creepy.  Notice that men don't have any term even resembling 'Daddy Porn' to describe their entertainment. Who wouldn't cringe at just hearing that term, which brings to mind perverted old men preying on young girls? Why is is OK to coin the phrase for women? Aren't women's and men's sexual needs equally normal?

Also, the pop culture aspect of Fifty Shades has made women's needs a source of laughter. Saturday Night Live spoofed the series with a skit about mom's desperate for personal time alone with the book so that they can masturbate. Selena Gomez did a Funny or Die skit called Fifty Shades of Blue that also satirized the books. Should women's sexual urges be fodder for humor?

Or does the fact that they are being talked about at all overshadow that question? The Movie Fifty Shades of Grey is planned for release late next year and it will be a sure hit.

Will Emma Watson Star in the Fifty Shades of Grey Movie?

Harry Potter starlet explores her kinky side? Will Emma Watson star in the Fifty Shades of Grey movies? If you don't know about Fifty Shades of Grey then you've clearly been living under a rock. The erotic trilogy has taken the world by storm, hitting the bestseller lists like a belt on a bare backside out grossing even Harry Potter, Twilight and Hunger Games series. Right now, the movie adaptation of the Fifty Shades books is the hottest project in Hollywood at the moment - and it hasn't even been cast yet. Right now, the world has gone crazy with their guesses and hopes for the actors who'll be cast as controlling and sexy Christian Grey and innocent and submissive Anastasia Steele. Almost any young actor wants in on the project, but one name has hit the Internet in a flame of scandal - Harry Potter's own Emma Watson.

When most of us think of the 22-year-old actress we think back to the smart and sensible girl in Hogwarts, and since most of us remember her as a child actress, picturing the Harry Potter actress in a red room of pain may seem a bit weird. "Not so fast," says Watson when asked about her involvement in the project. The actress hasn't been approached for the movie, and Universal Pictures say they're waiting to cast a screenwriter and a director first before thinking about casting. When Emma Watson was asked whether she'd be interested in a part, the actress said she hasn't even read the book, let alone the script. Right now she's busy with other projects, and Fifty Shades of Grey hasn't even crossed her mind.

This is not the first time porkies have circulated the web about our dear Hermione. The actress has been linked to a variety of movies without her knowledge, including the remake of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. But the Fifty Shades rumors have gotten out of hand, since Emma's friends and families have been asking about her involvement. "Just because there are 60 articles on the Internet doesn't mean it's any less true than if there are three or four," says Emma. While the movie and even the casting may be Fifty Shades away, we can still have a lot of fun speculating who will play Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey. Whoever will be cast will have a lot to live up to, since we all know fans are very picky about their version of the characters.

Fifty Shades Is More Than Just a Raunchy S and M Story

Fifty Shades of Grey's Christian Grey not only opens Anastasia Steele's eyes to the world of dominant/submissive role-play but also opens readers to a whole new way of finding sexual pleasure.

The gossip and excited chit-chat that surrounds the novel Fifty Shades, written by E.L. James, is more often than not about how much it has spiced things up in the bedroom for its readers. The world that Christian creates in his "Red Room of Pain" is none other than an experimenter's fantasy world. With canes, cuffs, and carnal music bumping through the surround sound speakers, Christian takes over Anastasia's body and mind and sends her whirling in countless orgasms. The detailed descriptions carved by James in this novel have changed the way readers approach their own bedroom activities, allowing them to view S&M and Dom/Sub relationships as something other than the "other".

As readers, we know that when Anastasia met Christian Grey on the fateful day of the interview, she was a virgin. Her experience had not surpassed the basement make-out sessions typical of high school pubescent passion. She was shy, insecure, and somewhat nerdy. As she falls for Christian, she changes dramatically into the confident, sensual being that revels in the indulgent pleasure of Christian's world. This same path of self discovery and sensual experimentation is what readers love as they dive into this series. Be it those who already were adventurous in the bedroom or readers who never thought of handcuffs as more that police restraints, this book offers readers a plethora of ideas to spice up their love lives.

The interesting and refreshing twist to the Fifty Shades world of S&M is that it is not solely about the man's pleasure and the woman's pain, but it is centered on the unexpected love story that unfurls between Christian and Anastasia. Christian is a Dominant in all senses of the word, but he is also sensitive to Anastasia's inexperience and is intent on bring her the ultimate pleasure. His biggest desire is to show her just how far she can be pushed with pain and just how much pleasure she can derive from it. The relationship that grows through the sexual encounters is one of strength and trust, and no one can deny that readers want the same for their own relationships.

As readers drink in the story of Christian and Anastasia in Fifty Shades of Grey, they discover a world of love, lust, excitement and discovery. This "romance novel" is an eye opener and a refreshing change from the classic tales of novels past.
