Fifty Shades of Grey has been holding on firmly to its number one position and shows no signs of letting go of the riding crop any time soon. So naturally, the movie adaptation of the book by E.L. James is the one project in Hollywood everyone naturally wants in on. Universal Pictures and Focus Features have scooped up the rights to produce the bestselling erotic trilogy, and have taken on The Social Network duo Mike De Luca and Dana Brunetti as the movie's producers. While the studios are more interested in finding a screenwriter and a director, the whole world is waiting to see who'll be cast as Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey - and every actor and actress in Hollywood wants a part!

The movie adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey is guaranteed to be a box office hit, and even Angelina Jolie has commented she wants a role in the sadomasochistic romance. However, the role of innocent, 21-year-old virginal Anastasia Steele is more likely to go to a younger actress. There is one actress who wants the role desperately, and that's 22-year-old Pretty Little Liars star Lucy Hale. "I just finished the first book. I'm speechless," says the actress, "I think every girl wants to play Anastasia Steele. That would be freaking awesome. I'm really curious to see how they're going to turn it into a film."

Lucy may have the right look for Anastasia Steele, with her big eyes, her dark locks and innocent features, but the actress may be up against some stiff competition, including her own co-star Ashley Benson, who is also keen for the role of Anastasia Steele. James tells us of an unconventional love story between dominant, handsome, billionaire Christian Grey who has some rather kinky and perverse tastes in the bedroom, whereas his object of desire, Anastasia Steele is an innocent, 21-year-old virgin who has a love of British classics and likes to drink tea. This unsuspecting pair end up in a violently passionate relationship full of elating highs, crashing lows and earth-shattering sex. Anastasia Steele is described as being a thin, pale girl with long dark hair and blue eyes that are too big for her face. All About Anastasia Steele

Anastasia Steele is the female protagonist in the erotic trilogy beginning with Fifty Shades of Grey. We are introduced to her character as a soon to be university graduate who is awkward, lacking in style and somewhat insecure. She has a taste for books, lots of books, and her life consists of school, friends and a future in publishing. Anastasia Steele has a chance meeting with Christian Grey, our male protagonist, and it changes her world completely. He falls (pun intended) for her the moment she trips into his office and eventually wins her heart as well.

Anastasia transforms from a shy, clumsy girl into what some readers may consider a sex-crazed woman. Anastasia's upbringing virtually prepared her for such an opponent. Her mother has been married several times and she was raised primarily by her stepfather, Ray. Despite this, his love for Ana is undeniable and she learned priceless lessons from him throughout their relationship, including how to shoot which comes in handy in the trilogy's third book.

This not-so-traditional childhood and adolescence affords Anastasia with a different kind of confidence and strength that isn't readily apparent. Christian's desire for a submissive in Ana is quickly set aside when he discovers what a surprisingly feisty girl she is. Anastasia Steele is unpredictable in many situations but as readers get to know her, her emotions become transparent and we want desperately for her to get through Christian's thick walls so that she can heal his heart.

Anastasia Steele is a traditional female romantic-protagonist in that she is the regular girl swept off her feet by a rich, attractive man... but she is different if only for the simple fact that she has A LOT of work to do to truly "get the guy" heart and soul.
